3. Advanced Age Group FISH

Coach: Josh Hyde Practice Location:  Spring Hill RECenter in McLean, VA


The success of the Advanced Age Group FISH is measured by transitioning swimmers from casual summer leaguers to competitive year round athletes. This is accomplished by focusing on the following objectives:

  • to focus on technique, through drills and demonstration, and racing strategies,
  • to provide strength training, through timed interval sets,
  • to develop a feeling of self-worth and accomplishment so that swimming can become an enjoyable lifelong sport. 

The Requirements for Advanced Age Group FISH:

  • Practice attendance of 50% or better
  • Meet attendance of 50% or better
  • Each swimmer will swim each event at least once in meet during the season (50, 100 of 4 strokes, 100, 200 IM, 500, 1000 freestyle)  Those eligible will also swim the 1500, 1650 frees, 400 IM.
  • Each swimmer must be legal and proficient in all 4 strokes
  • Each swimmer must have paddles, pull bouy, fins, gear bag
  • Each swimmers family will participate in hosting our 4 meets through donations of time and food items as requested.

The Goals for Advanced Age Group FISH:

  •  Practice attendance of 75% or better
  • Meet attendance of 75% or better
  • Each swimmer will drop 5% of 10 event times by end of December, 10% by end of May (50, 100 of 4 strokes, 10, 200 IM)
  • Each swimmer should have these times by graduating Age Group
  • 25% of the group to achieve at least 1 JO cut
  • 10% of the group to achieve at finals at JOs
