B. Preparing for JO's 2001
Kate was no
exception to this philosophy, surprising herself with an A time in her weakest
event the 50 Breast, and attaining a AA time in the 100 Back both at the
January Open. She used the Tri-Meet with HACC and MAKO to swim the 200 Breast (
shock) and 200 Fly (shock) for the first time, achieving a times in both.
The busy
period of January and Mid-February was highlighted with Kate achieving a AA time in the 500 Free at the Mid-Atlantic
Elite Invitational at GCIT. Kate was thrilled with her time of 5:46.03, which
represented a whopping 13 second improvement. Kate also enjoyed the excitement
of swimming finals at that meet, in the 50 Fly and the 100 Fly; unfortunately,
she couldn´t better her prelims times, but the experience she gained from this
would prove to be very valuable at the upcoming PVS JO´s.
