This is Coach Matthew McGillicuddy's 2nd year coaching the Age Group and occasionally helping out with the Awesome swimmers. He is a Lab Technician working at Covance Laboratories International.

Coach Matt was born in Fairfax, Virginia and graduated from George Mason University with a B.S. in Biology 2006. He has been trying to gain experience in the biology field, and is about to start graduate school this fall, majoring in forensic science. He hopes to get into the FBI when graduate school is completed.

Coach Matt started his swimming career at the age of 4 at the Kings Ridge Swim Club a small NVSL team. He joined the JCC waves at the age of 14. The next year he joined Curl Burke Swim Club and swam under Pete Morgan throughout High School. He swam all four years for GMU achieving Jr. National times in 10 events. He was a on the NCAA top 100 list for the 1650 his senior year. He currently competes in the occasional PVS swim meet and open water swim meets around the country.

Coach Matt has coached Fairfax Club Estates and Kings Ridge Swim Club, both for two years. While with Fairfax Club Estates the team was able to win their respective divisions each year. He also was a substitute for the Mason Makos.

Matt hopes that each child that swims in the Age Group will come out with a great passion for the sport and the ability to swim each stroke at a competitive level.
