In my year and a half with the FISH, plus my years of experience coaching summer league, I have never had a more coachable athlete than Molly Ellor. I define a coachable athlete as someone who is committed to her or his own development, who is hungry for feedback, and open to anything that may improve him or herself. Molly's drive and desire to learn and get better, coupled with her maturity, and her continued dedication to the FISH swim team, make Molly a very worthy FISH of the Month.
Not only does Molly maintain a practice attendance average of nearly 100%, she regularly attends long course morning practices, swims in our summer program, and attends each and every meet and team function. More impressive than all that, however, is that I have never once caught her giving less than her all in a practice, and in those rare occasions when she does not perform to her own level of expectations, she will be the first one to admit it. She is constantly searching for ways to get faster and fix her strokes, and has made large strides not only in her best events (freestyle and backstroke), but also in her other events (breaststroke and IM).
In addition to the swimming side, Molly is an impressive individual away from the pool as well. She maintains excellent grades, always has a positive and cheery attitude, and is a leader amongst her peers in her training group. Our FISH of the Month for November is a great example for all the FISH swimmers out there, both younger than her and older. When you see Molly on deck, tell her Congratulations!
