The Swimmer of the month for July is Kaithlyn Torrez.  Kaithlyn Torrez age twelve, earned this recognition for a number of reasons. Her positive attitude and dedication to swimming have made her stand out this month.

Kaithlyn started swimming year round last September at the FISH's Wakefield program. She started out as a swimmer struggling to complete a 100 I.M.  Kaithlyn persevered and made rapid improvement.  She consistently displays a fantastic attitude at practice. Her desire to keep improving led her to start attending morning long course practices offered at Audrey Moore during the school year.  Kaithlyn has never been one to complain that a set is too hard.  Her positive spirit has paid off for Kaithlyn, with many of her long course times actually beating her best times for short course!

Kaithlyn's favorite practice sets include swimming pyramids. Her favorite event is the backstroke. Kaithlyn recently competed in her first 200 meter backstroke last month.

During the month of July, Kaithlyn had excellent attendance, especially at morning practices offered at Lake Newport.  Kaithlyn would make the commute to Reston all of the way from Springfield three times per week! Kaithlyn gave credit to her friends Thuy-Vi Nguyen and Madelyn Donohoe for being her friends and making practices fun.

During the Summer, Kaithlyn also represents her team, the Springfield Tiger Sharks.

In addition to swimming, Kaithlyn enjoys painting and being a big sister to her 3 year old brother.
