When did you join the FISH?
I joined, when I was in 6th grade, so this is my seventh year on the team.
I've loved all the wonderful people I've met, swimmers and coaches. But my favorite memories are probably the summer practices when the sun begins to rise or the afternoon practices when it's really hot and we all go down the water slide at Glade (yes, I'm a child at heart)!
I really enjoy doing specialty sets so I can work on my butterfly. I like doing 50 sprints and focusing on the second 50 of my 100 or 200 fly.
What are your favorite events?
100 and 200 fly
What is the biggest challenge for you in swimming?
I tend to over think things and worry, so trying to conquer my anxiety and nerves to swim well.
What motivates you most?
Doing well for my team and the sense of accomplishment that comes with that. When my team drives me to succeed, I perform the best.
Which aspects of swimming do you apply in every day life?
Knowing how to organize my time and balance being a student-athlete with all the other activities I participate in.
What are you most looking forward to?
I can't wait for college!!! I really look forward to meeting new people and taking challenging courses with really amazing professors.
What advice can you give your teammates in your group and especially your younger teammates who are just starting out?
Hard work pays off! Maybe a bit cliché, but whether in swimming, school, or in life, working hard and dedicating yourself to something will result in success. Also, respecting your coaches. Coaches (or teachers or parents) appreciate being respected and will treat you with respect in return.
Tell me a little bit about you, what do you like to do when you are not swimming or busy with schoolwork?
