2010 has been a great year so far for Emily! In route to winning the girls 10 & Under high point award at the RAC Classic over MLK weekend, Emily won the 200 free, 50 back and 100 back and teamed with her fellow 10 & Under FISH to win both the 200 freestyle and 200 medley relays. Emily's 100 backstroke time of 1:04.88 bettered the PVS Resident Record and is currently the top in the nation for her age group. Emily had three other swims at the RAC meet that earned her national rankings: 200 free, 2:08.42 (8th), 50 back, 31.11 (11th) and 500 free, 5:42.54 (11th).

While these times were great achievements, they did not come as a big surprise to Emily and her coaches after a great winter training period. In addition to the regular Incredible FISH practice schedule, Emily also takes advantage of morning practices at both Spring Hill and Wakefield on a consistent basis this season and during Christmas break Emily attended every offered practice and extra practices with Coach Ray and the Awesome FISH. Emily was quick to point out that breaking the PVS record was really nice, she was more proud of beating the goal time she had established for herself earlier in the season. With new goals in mind, Emily plans to continue working hard with the support of her teammates.

Emily moved to Reston, VA from Georgia this fall with her parents and cat, Daisy at the end of the summer. In addition to swimming, Emily also says she spends time playing the flute, eating, sleeping and doing homework. While she misses her old friends from Georgia, Emily cites her new teammates on the FISH as her favorite thing about moving to Virgina. When you have the chance, make sure to ask Emily about the real best part of a Georgia peach!
