Casey Storch, 10, is November's FISH of the Month. Casey's performance at the November Open was outstanding; he qualified for Junior Olympics in every event he competed. After this meet he came to practice with a new found focus on his training and enthusiasm to do whatever it takes to improve. This was apparent at the recent Tom Dolan Invitational meet where he improved his times in all of his events, only 4 weeks after the November Open.
Casey, who swims with the Advanced Age Group, has picked up his attendance and training since making all those qualifying times and has set his sights on making a run at placing in the top 8 at Junior Olympics. With his work ethic and constant focus on his goals, he has a great shot at making this happen.
Casey learned how to swim from his 3 older sisters, who were also members of FISH (Sally, Jennifer, and Katie). He then began swimming for the FISH at the age of six with the Mini FISH program. Casey is also an avid soccer player, but simply enjoys being outdoors doing anything, such as, fishing, hiking, freeze and laser tag, and water sports. Casey's dog Knellie follows him pretty much wherever he goes, and Casey and Knellie wrestle and play tag. Finally, Casey enjoys attending plays and musicals, and using his metal detector in the woods down by the Potomac River to look for Indian and Civil War artifacts.
We, the coaches, are all looking forward to watching Casey develop and hope others will follow his lead and take the next step towards success.
