Caroline O'Dwyer is one tough girl! Caroline joined the FISH during her junior year at Bishop O'Connell high school. During that first week on the FISH, Caroline attended all five morning practices! At her first meet, the November Open, Caroline realized that she still had a long way to go. Caroline credits Coach Gabe for whipping her into shape. She says that Coach Gabe never let her slack off and always offered an encouraging word.
Caroline, who started swimming competitively later than most of her teammates, says she is inspired by Dara Torres. She hopes that she has taught the younger swimmers on the team that starting something new may be difficult, but if you stick with it, you can surprise even yourself.
In the fall, Caroline will attend the University of Virginia as a Nursing major and a member of the Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps (NROTC). Caroline also plans to continue swimming the UVA Club Swim Team. Caroline's story demonstrates that anything is possible--you can do it all and it's never too late to start.
In addition to swimming, Caroline enjoys hiking and being outside. Her favorite book is Into Thin Air, and her favorite color is purple.
