Alec Contag has been swimming with the FISH for nine years and he has accomplished a lot in the pool as well as outside the pool.  He started swimming with the Age Group program and has made his way up to the Awesome.  While Alec has been swimming for the FISH he has also been swimming on his high school team, Langley High School, and his summer league team, the Hamlet.   Alec has had many memorable moments but the one that stands out the most, was the opportunity to compete in the Ohio State Grand Prix meet in Columbus, Ohio, last season.  Alec's favorite events are the 400 Meter and 500 Yard Freestyle.

Alec's ambitious personality has helped him not only to excel as a swimmers, but also to  maintaining an excellent GPA.  He also focuses on eating healthy, nutritious food to keep up  his practice attendance.  Alec cares about his teammates and their success in the pool and he gets very motivated when the team works towards a common goal.

Alec has a strong desire to be successful in all areas of his life and swimming for the FISH has provided him with the opportunity to do just that. I asked Alec a few questions......

1.  What is the biggest challenge for you in swimming? The biggest challenge for me is to get enough sleep and make it to morning practice. I spend a lot of time on school and activities outside of the pool; so balancing everything with swimming is something that has been very challenging.

2. What motivates you most?  Team success!  Being a part of the men's Sectional Championship team was very exciting.

3. Which aspects of swimming do you apply in every day life? Try as hard as you can, don't hold back on anything.

4. You are beginning a new swimming chapter, swimming in college.  What are you most looking forward to?  Do you think you are well prepared?  Yes, I will be swimming in college. I have been accepted into Johns Hopkins and will be attending college there in the fall.

5. What advice can you give your teammates in your group and especially your younger teammates who are just starting out?  Don't give up and keep getting up..... we always have the no but we just need to find the Yes.

6. Tell me a little bit about you, what do you like to do when you are not swimming or busy with schoolwork?  Favorite book and or movie?  Favorite color?  I pretty much only do school and swimming. I do like to play Rock Band when I get a chance. In addition, when I have the time I enjoy hanging out with other teammates from the FISH.
