FISH swimmer Caylyn Tate recently signed a letter of intent to swim for the College of William and Mary as part of the class of 2013.

Caylyn who began swimming for the FISH swim team in the Age Group program is graduating this spring from Potomac Falls High School.  Caylyn has been swimming with the Awesome FISH for three years in addition to swimming for her High School and summer league swim team. Caylyn is very excited about the opportunity to swim for a Division 1 swim team. She has been recruited to swim the distance freestyle events for the TRIBE at the College of William and Mary.

We are all very proud and excited for Caylyn and can't wait to see what her High School Senior year and college career will bring.    Go TRIBE

Michael is in his first year on the FISH swim team and also his first time swimming on a USA Swim Team.  Michael has swum during the summer and wanted to continue his swimming during the winter so he tried out for the FISH.  He was not legal in all strokes at his tryout, so he was told he had to come to morning practices in order to get the stroke instruction he needed to become legal in all his strokes.   Michael is currently legal in all strokes and is able to complete a 200 IM.  Michael's parents credit the morning practices to Michael's success and they are very happy getting up to bring him at 4:50 am because they know he will get the individual attention he needs.

Boys vs Girls Meet

The Boys vs Girls  Meet will be held this Saturday, November 15th from 5:40 to 8:00 PM at Spring Hill RECenter.

Have a great time and enjoy the Meet!
Dear FISH Parents -

As you might have heard already, an eight year old boy was molested at Spring Hill RECenter on Monday night at around 8:30 PM.  This incident occurred in the men's locker room.  We just spoke with the management at Spring Hill and we were told that the incident is under police investigation and that they are trying everything to solve the situation.  Please, if you have seen any unusual activity, talk to the manager on duty and let him or her know.

Fortunately, our swimmers were not at the pool on Monday night.  However, as a precaution, we would like our swimmers to use the locker room with their friends to avoid being alone when changing.  We hope that this is an isolated incident, but unfortunately, these things have happened in the past at all RECenters.  Please talk to your kids and let them know what happened.  Please make sure they are using the locker room with their friends.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact me.

Best regards,
Monika Paris.

What a great meet!!  A very special thanks goes to all the FISH parents who made this a wonderful experience for our swimmers.  Your support and time is greatly appreciated and none of this would be possible without your help.

Please follow the provided link to view the best times that were swum during the meet.

LINCOLNNebraska, October 8. ALTHOUGH mental toughness is spoken of quite loosely among coaches, it goes mostly undefined, is frequently misunderstood and seldom viewed as a habit.

A New Generation of Second Best Swimmers?

Are we going too far with the popular idea that competitiveness and winning for all age group swimmers should be de-emphasized while fun and maximum participation should be emphasized?

Max_Brownawell.jpg
Congratulations to Max Brownawell of Advanced Age Group for being honored as September's Swimmer of the Month. Max is new to the Fish this year and has really jumped into the program with both feet. He rarely misses practice and comes to two and three morning workouts a week to get in extra training and stroke work. Max's efforts are paying off with dropping times and better stroke habits. One of his goals this year is to qualify for the Langley High School swim team and we should all cheer him on as he tries to reach his goal.
