PVS 2008 LC Age Group Champs  17-Jul-08 to 20-Jul-08 LC Meters
Location: Fairland

2008 14 & Under Champs was an exciting meet which was swum out of the Fairland Aquatic Center.  87 of the 115 swims were best times, 6 of them where team records.  A total of 289 seconds, almost 5 minutes, were dropped and 15 swimmers swam finals in which we scored a total of 402 points putting us into 9^th place out of 23 teams! 

 

The record breakers where:

·         Isabella Rongione broke her own records in the 50 free (33.92), 100 free (1:16.71), 50 back (42.86), 50 fly (38.30), and the 100 fly (1:29.94).

·         William Gent broke a 4 year old record previously held by Danny Luciani in the 200 breast with a time of 3:04.71.

 

Kevin Benecki, Brianna Broccoli, David & William Gent, Bill Kim, Sarah Larkworthy, Elena Marsilii, Isabella Rongione, Laurie Wei, Max Wingo, and Veronica Wolff all scored points towards our teams point total.

 

In the relays we had some great swims.

·         Jessie Monroe, Theresa Neubig, Veronica Wolff, & Brianna Broccoli came in 6^th in the 10 & Under 200 Medley Relay. 

·         Meagan McArthur, Erin Callahan, Elizabeth Longosz, Ines Vera came in 12^th in the 11-12 200 Free Relay. 

·         Isabella Rongione, Theresa Neubig, Jessie Monroe, & Veronica Wolff came in 7^th in the 10 & Under 200 Free Relay. 

·         Ines Vera, Erin Callahan, Erin Callahan, & Meagan McArthur came in 11^th in the 11-12 400 Medley Relay.

 

This was an exciting meet with many best times and great swims.  We also had some swimmers qualify for Zones who will be competing next week, Bill Kim, William Gent, Veronica Wolff, and Max Wingo!  CONGRATS and good luck...

Junior Champs was a fun end of the season meet for all who where there.  It was swam at the beautiful University of Maryland pool.  We had 43 best times out of 73 total swims giving us a 60% overall improvement and a drop in about 186 seconds which is more than 3 minutes in total improvement!  Consistent stroke and racing technique as well as hard work allowed for these improvements.  And of course, additional long course practices at Lake Newport were an added benefit to make everyone swim fast.

 

Ryan Williams swam to six best times at the meet while Christopher Negiz had the largest time drop of a little over 30 seconds which most of that was from dropping 29+ seconds in the 200 breast.

2008 PV Senior LC Championships  10-Jul-08 to 13-Jul-08 LC Meters

2008 Senior Champs was an exciting meet swum out of the beautiful University of Maryland Natatorium.  34 of the 64 swims were best times, 4 of them where team records.  A total of 83 seconds were dropped and 10 swimmers made it back to finals where we scored a total of 284 points putting us into 5^th place out of 19 teams which is up from our 8^th place finish last year! 

 

Amongst the record breakers where:

·         Adam Pennington breaking his own team record in the 15-16 100 back with a time of 1:01.45

·         Edward Lee breaking Charlie Badawy's team record in the 15-16 200 breast with a time of 2:48.56

·         Matthew Benecki broke 2 team records.

o   His own record in the 200 free with a time of 1:54.72

o   And a record back from 2002 held previously by Alan Fishman in the 17-18 200 back with a time of 2:10.66

·         Steven Benecki broke the open team record in the 50 free held previously by Coach Matt Mcgillicuddy in a time of 25.24.

 

Caylyn Tate, Steven LeDuc, Alec Contag, Kim Case, and Matthew Benecki all scored points towards our teams point total.

 

Caylyn Tate, Toni Paris, Adam Pennington, Alec Contag, Caitlin Marsilii, John Baldwin, Matt Callahan, and Steven LeDuc qualified for Zones this coming week.  CONGRATULATIONS!
